<< Paintings by Annie Vogel | | I am a Frenchwoman living in Paris, although I spend much of the year in Chamonix-Mt Blanc, amongst the towering summits from which I derive so much of my creative inspiration.
My artistic education began in Geneva in 1986, where I attended the Aime Venel School of Art. In 1989 I moved to Seattle, Washington for 2 years, where I studied drawing and painting at the School of Visual Concept. Upon my return to Paris, I helped an painter of international repute, create a workshop for budding artists called “Artmonique”. Over the last 3 years I have branched out and have been working in my own studio.
In Paris, I have regularly participated in collective exhibitions. I have also had 2 exhibitions, in 1998 and 2000, devoted exclusively to my work.
In Chamonix, I am an active member of the Chamonix art community, having participated in several collective exhibitions, the most recent being in 2004 and 2005. At present my works are being exhibited with other local artists in an “open house” at the Chamonix’ Maison d’Art.
In July 2007, I was the principal exhibitor at a major art exhibition held at the city hall in Argentiere, near Chamonix. The success of this led to my being asked to exhibit my works at the Aart’s Masters Gallery in the Chamonix (one of a network of international galleries) during the autumn 2007.
I have had a certain commercial success with both French and international clients.

About My Work :
My paintings reflect a continual search for texture and light. This is mainly inspired by Nature, most particularly that found in mountainous or rocky terrain, which exalts and motivates my work.
These textures can be classified as organic, mineral or floral. I evolve from one to the other, always striving to maintain the same degree of transparency and depth, a legacy left by Turner, my principal reference.
My goal is not to reflect specific landscapes, but rather to create an emotional experience through a textured composition using a mixed technique that I have developed over the years and is the hallmark of my work.
